Today, Sunday, on the 24th of June, is the last day when you can enjoy the concerts at the River Stage (on the shore of the Someș River). The creative workshops for children ARTbecedar will start at 12 p.m. on the Grigorescu Beach, where the kids will do arts and crafts with the help of the artists from the Fabrica de Pensule community.
Starting 6:30 p.m. six jazz bands will hit the stage, 5 out of which take part in the International Jazz in the Park Competition. With a combination of gypsy jazz, manouche, funk, experimental projects, original reinterpretation, hip-hop, pop and electro mixes, today’s concerts will take us on a journey through time and the vast space of jazz. This evening we’ll listen to Cafe Gitan, Soular Quartet, Akos Fekecs Project, Astro Funk, FrankieZ Experiment and tonight’s special guest Edina Quartet.
The access is free, but we do encourage you to buy a non-mandatory ticket to help raise money for the Jazz in the Park Fund, so that we can support the artistic projects of our new local artists and you’ll get a supporter’s bracelet in exchange.
Good weather is forecast for today, but, as for any other outdoor concert, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so we advise you to bring a jacket. However, we will provide blankets for those in need, just to make sure that the cold won’t keep us from enjoying good music.
On this day as well, we’ll meet up at the Art Museum at 8 p.m. for the extraordinary concert of our Grammy Award Winner headliner Richard Bona Group.
Born and raised in Cameroon, Richard Bona brought a fresh and surprising take on music and stage performance, staying true to the African rhythm in all of his 7 albums.
With years of experience in what regards jazz, pop, bossa nova, afro-beat and ethno music, his multi-faceted musical talent couldn’t be ignored, and his numerous recognitions and won awards guarantee for his musical flexibility in front of a multivalent public. The Richard Bona Group concert is certainly one of this festival’s must-see shows.
