The sixth day – Tuesday, 26th of June – is dedicated to the Pata Rât community, where we’ll enjoy 3 concerts starting 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. We’ll also meet again in the inner courtyard of the Art Museum for the Soweto Kinch concert, starting 8 p.m.
It’s the second year when we take the stage to Pata Rât. This year we’ll listen to Taraful lui Siminic, a band that always brings a smile to our faces, JazzyBIT, a pleasant mix between jazz, rock, blues, latino and funk, and Marius Mihalache Band, a pair of magic hands to play the dulcimer and a great jazz band.
Why Jazz in the Park at Pata Rât? We chose this place because of several reasons. Ever since the first edition, we set the goal to give a new and more culturally-inclined meaning to the public spaces, to promote quality music and to unite people to support a collective idea. We believe in the power of art and culture to bring people together, to motivate communities and to make incredible changes. This is what the festival is for.
We go to Pata Rât because we want to draw people’s attention to the given situation of this location. We do this using music and the festival, because this is what we know best. We try our best to widely determine people to get involved, both the authorities and the civilians who might or might not visit Pata for the first time. We can only hope that people will understand this is the kind of situation where we all need to work to make it better.
Music is our “weapon” and we use it to send a clear message. In this case, music will help us bring people together and become aware of how aggravated the situation in Pata Rât really is. Moreover, it is a good occasion for the people in Pata to meet the people from Cluj and get to know each other.
We believe that this musical evening is a gesture that will be welcomed by the people in Pata. About the music, the bands that will play on this stage do it wholeheartedly and really wish to get involved. This is how it was in 2017, and this is how it will be in 2018 as well.
