The Jazz in the Park International Competition announced its winners. After three days in Form and on the Grigorescu beach, during which we have enjoyed listening to the competition’s finalists, the time came for us to announce the bands who reached the podium. The jury deliberated and chose the best ones.
The FrankieZ Experiment won the great prize of the competition. This musical project was created by the drummer Frankie Ercsei and it currently includes 6 talented musicians, who like to combine jazz with fresh vibes from New York. The prize consists of 2,000 EUR and it is offered by BCR. Moreover, we will meet with The FrankieZ Experiment again at the next year’s edition of Jazz in the Park, on the Main Stage.
Silver was taken by Akon Fekecs Project. The band was born out of Akos’ desire to compose and sing alongside his best friends. The band plays in this formula since July 2017 and throughout our competition they have managed to deliver a fantastic energy that has become their trademark. The prize they won consists of 1,000 EUR.
The third prize, consisting of 600 EUR, went to Lucia Rey Trio. The young Lucia Rey studied music in Madrid and her passion and talent for jazz have paved her way to New York, where she worked with accomplished professors in this field. At the Jazz in the Park competition, she came accompanied by two other gifted musicians, a contrabassist and a drummer, together with whom she brought jazz and flamenco jazz on the River Stage.
