The band Café Gitan was born out of the artists’ passion for the gypsy jazz/manouche style, bringing back the 30s’ and 40s’ music. They process the music composed by Django Reinhardt, French songs and jazz standards. Hences Dávid graduated from classic violin classes, and while he performed in England, he diversified his knowledge, by being part of free jazz bands, participating in several international festivals. After his return to Romania, he founded this gypsy jazz band. Through the songs of Edith Piaf and jazz standard tunes, after discovering gypsy jazz, Molnár Edina went from being a theater actress, to being the guest performer of Chanson Manouche in England, to hold several concerts. The other three members, Gáspás Álmos, Iulian Muresan and Vitályos Lehet joined the band due to their passion for the genre.
