It’s been a year since we’ve been in a pandemic. A year full of restrictions that disrupted our normal course of life, the fast pace we were used to. Perhaps the most affected aspect of our lives is access to culture: no festivals, no concerts, no movies, no socialization to inspire us. Ironic, right? In the sense that our rescue in the pandemic came precisely from culture, through movies seen on the internet, books read or albums listened to.
We think it’s important to do this festival. It is important for us, the organizers, not to become an endangered species, and it is important for you, our audience, to have a source of inspiration and motivation.
And, because it’s so important, we decided to be 100% transparent with our audience and partners. Sure, and now comes the question: “But what, so far you haven’t been transparent?” Yes, we were, but so far the certainty was much greater and we could take risks and decisions ahead of time. We do not want to create a beautiful illusion, we do not want to mislead anyone, so we decided to always communicate the truth, even if the truth may not be what you want to hear. Because otherwise we can’t have a good project.
We moved the festival all over town because it’s safer. It is both spectacular and easier to organize the festival throughout Central Park rather than having bits of it everywhere, that’s true. But in the park we cannot meet the safety standards we want. We should close the park, which we promised you at the first edition that we will never do. So, this year you will find us everywhere, in small, safe places, with new concepts. But we promise you it will be more than interesting. It will be a special experience. We will do things we could never have done in the park.
As for the restrictions, we are building on the ones from last year, when the limit of events was 500 people. We can rely on this because we are following the European trends regarding the reopening of the events market and all major countries are trying to create a context for events to take place somehow. Moreover, the cultural sector was not much supported in 2020, so another year of break is difficult to conceive.
But you know us. You know that everything we do, we do for you. You know we wouldn’t invite you to something we don’t see happening. So you can count on us. It will be an exceptional edition!
